I'm not even going to lie and say that I understood this whole thing. Kant's "What Is Enlightenment?" left me with more questions than answers. I did, however get one thing out of it: laziness and cowardice are stifling creativity and preventing us from asking the philosophical questions; questions such as why or how? My interpretation is that enlightenment is breaking free from those chains and thinking for oneself. It seems in today's society, people are more willing to delegate the creative, outside-the-box thinking to others, leaving only the barest of thoughts in their heads. For those of us who continue to think outside the box, we must continue to oppose the intellectual stifling that society is bringing down upon us. We need to strive to inspire independent thought among ourselves, and among others. Inspire them to ask the questions that no-one else is asking: why or how?
