After Abdiel solely opposed Satan and his preaching, God described his actions in a way that I found very encouraging: "For this was all thy care: To stand approved in sight of God though worlds judged thee perverse." Even though what Satan said was obviously convincing, as he acquired a pretty big team with his words, Abdiel was not shaken. It makes me wonder how members of the modern church would respond if they faced a similar issue... Wait a minute!
There are movements (i.e. the Bethel Movement) that are preaching a gospel of an empowered humanity--- a humanity that can obtain power that, in truth, is only apportioned to the Godhead. Mankind is constantly being persuaded into believing they can have unobtainable power. I, for one, want to be like Abdiel --- unshaken among the masses. My only care should be to stand approved in the sight of God, knowing the true nature of His divinity and my own servanthood.
