On to the next book

How interesting is it, that Milton saw it fit for Michael to tell Adam all about the things of the future. About his sons and there betrayal, about Moses. I thought so. And when Adam found out that he was not condemned to death forever as Satan was, he was pretty excited. I mean, if I found out that God loved me so much He would show me grace and create a way for me to have eternal life with Him through sending His Son to be the ultimate sacrifice… I’d be pretty excited and relieved! Oh yeah, He did do that! Thanks God.
The way that Milton uses this angels as a form of story tellers is very interesting to me. They are a very convenient avenue to add in context to a situation, or an easy way to progress a characters development by giving them some fancy knowledge they didn’t have before hand.
The angels are like God’s blowing alley bumpers to me. The keep the story going and on trace, while providing Milton with the means of improving the quality of his story (bowl) through making it easy in add information (hit pins).
I’m thankful Milton chose to infer a lot of motivation and context, giving each character a bit of depth and personal connection that wasn’t as easy to obtain with the information we had. Even though it may be a political allegory, and I don’t get that part of things. I enjoy the different perspectives he allows me to reflect on through his use of the Bible and the events that are recorded in it.
