Thank God for Predictable Endings and Good Wives

Hello yet again friends, and welcome to my channel.

Lolol jk

Anywho, I am after all an honors student and being an honors student requires me to do exactly what an honors student should: produce an intelligent and thorough spew of thought onto a Macbook screen. So let's get down to business (not to defeat the huns.)

Tartuffe is one heck of a dude. Every inch of his being is hypocritical, and the most unbelievable part of this book- that Orgon believes this man and literally worships him (you would know, you read it) is honestly the only thing other than Dorine's FANTASTIC sarcasm that makes it a play. That might seem harsh, but I really am in love with how ridiculous it was to visualize a grown man bowing at another man's feet and then embracing him. That part, needless to say, was just weird. It is unbelievable that this is how people of that day and age saw the church- which to be honest if the people who weren't actual devotees and never dug into any of the scriptures to find out for themselves what is right and wrong in the eyes of Christ, then it makes complete sense that people are simply that gullible! This blog post goes out to all of the stories with nice, happy and predictable endings, simply because if Tartuffe would've actually gotten away with that, I'd have been very upset. Also, it is even more important that we thank Elmire (although I'm not entirely sure I should trust her because she was gonna keep it allllll to her sweet self) for calling Tartuffe out in front of Orgon! Thank goodness, because that would've been rough if.... you know.... yeah.
Tartuffe also reminds me of people who start and run cults. Just throwing that out there.

Man, I love political allegory!

First, this post was a masterpiece. Haha, secondly, I definitely agree that a happy ending would not only have been unsatisfying but also slightly infuriating. By the end it definitely would have been okay if Tartuffe had progressed w certain degree as a person, but not okay at all if by the end he turned around to be the saint he was pretending to be all along and everyone lived happily ever after in the end and Tartuffe and Elmore got married and have 17 kids and walked in Christ. At least, I think so..... by the end it doesn’t sound THAT bad, but still not good. Maybe in a sequel
