Locke brings out an interesting picture of knowledge and how it can be attained. He says think of the white piece of paper. It's empty with nothing on it. He asks how can it be filled? How can it be furnished? He then answers all these questions with, experience. That experience can come through sensation or reflection. With experience you then learn knowledge which can be applied to that blank white paper and fill it to make it useful. I relate things back to the christian life. As new believers, when it comes to the knowledge of Jesus, we are a white piece of paper. We knew nothing and understand nothing when it comes to knowledge of Him. Through learning, reading, and seeking Him, we can fill that white piece of paper known as the christian life. As we reflect on God and His word we see what He desires for our lives and how He desires that we live, we are able too fill that white piece of paper of our lives. How much learning does that take? How much reading? Is it worth it to fill that blank slate at the end of the day? God will give us the strength. He will provide us with the help to fill the blank slate of our lives with the knowledge He desires us to have our focus on.
I commented on Luke's post and Cody's post!
