So, Lets talk about education!
I really like Wollstonecraft's idea to have an equal education across the board (the board of wealth and status that is). The wealthy go to an expensive private school, the middle-class/poor people go to a public school, and then there are this kids that are homeschooled (stereotypically). Growing up in a small town public school I often heard the phrase "that high quality *insert school name here* education," which was basically a joke everyone would laugh about. We acknowledged that we didn't have the same education as other kids that went to bigger or better schools. And I personally felt that when I began school at the university, and even still feel it sometimes now. Because of that, I totally agree with her idea. We should consider the idea of a "middle quality education." Everyone (rich or poor, boy or girl) should get the same education, or at least basics. I don't mean the term "middle quality" as bad thing. It is just a joke based on the previous one. Everyone should have access to the highest for of education, and what they do with that is their choice.
We all know that educational standards in the time of Ms. Wollstonecraft was completely different than what we have today. Women were basically only taught what they need to know, if that much. And social ranking also was a factor. It was worse in her day, but there is still that kind of separation in educational standards between the three types of education today. There are definitely pros and cons for both sides of the argument of consolidation of education.
Thank you for listening to my rant. Until next time guys and gals!
