Public Education // Mackenzie Jackson

Mary Wallstonecraft explains that public education is important in the 12th chapter. In her days, girls were taught the jobs they were going to use in the future. This meant they would cook, clean, and raise children. The main things they learned were skills that they would use in the future. They were also taught to submit to men. Men were the reason they worked because women only cared about what they thought of them. This is why Wallstonecraft is so passionate about public schooling. In public schooling, girls would have the same learning and social opportunities as boys. This would then allow them to have equal chances in the future to be independent. Wollstonecraft is so passionate because she did not have the opportunity as a young girl. Today, we have the ability to be anything we can be. As women, we have opportunities that Wallsytonecraft dreamed about. So, I encourage every woman to follow their dreams and become independent.
