Worship- Anna Grace Gay

How can you know God? How can you worship God? Are you allowed to worship anything other than God?

"To know God, says Seneca, is to worship him."

If you want to truly understand God in a way you never have, worship Him. Recognize all the things He has done for you and start praising him. He is the only one that deserves praise. He created the universe and absolutely everything that ever was or ever will be. Nothing else in this life deserves worship. Plenty of things and people deserve praise or recognition in this life but God and God alone deserves worship. If you are worshipping something intros world, it is basically pointless. Everything in this life and on this world will fail away. God is forever. No matter what happens God is always the constant. If you worship anything else you are diminishing the worship that you are giving to the Father. No worship that you give God should be equal to anything else you recognize in life. You can also worship God not only through music but also through prayer. Our God deserves all praise and recognition that we can give.

I feel as though this one line from David Hume's Dialogues Concerning Natural religion can really draw out many thought provoking questions about worship and what it should look like in our lives.

I commented on Cade's post and Moriah's post!

Prayer has been a big thing for me to rely on here lately. We see in Mark that Jesus started his day with prayer. He considered his communication with the Father a necessary part of his day-one that he couldn't do without. A big downside to us is finding time rather than prayer to do whatever we really want to do. Communicating with God should be a major priority.

I really like your post! It really stuck out to me because it seems as though you showed your heart in. I always have major worship jam sessions when I drive around in my car, and it really does have an impact on my day. I agree with you if you want to get to know God, worship Him. Talk to Him. Great post!

this is super good Anna Grace. one thing I really tried to push at my own church was: I can worship God with things that aren't orthodox worship actions. we truly can worship with everything we do. whether we are singing and studying the word or even cooking and fellowshipping. Paul says to do everything as to the glory of God and in the greek, all means all.
