In Chapter 12 of Mary Wollstonecraft's, "A vindication of the rights of woman" Mary makes the comparison between country days schools and boarding schools. In her opinion, boarding schools were just a place for trouble to happen. But she also states that students who learn alone or at home don't have the opportunity to speak their mind or learn as well as they can in schools with other students. Basically, she is referring to homeschooling. Which in my opinion can be taken many directions. If you do it correctly and how it is meant to be, homeschooling can be even more effective than going to a public or private school. But if you do it incorrectly, then it can be very detrimental to the student and the way they grow up. I think she describes the boarding school kind of as a way that they are trapped and the country day school giving the students more of an opportunity to have more freedom while being in school. I believe this is an argument that is still had today which makes her views and opinions of it very interesting.
