So... I honestly did not understand what any of this was about. I am going to try my hardest to write something that sounds somewhat intelligent...so here we go.
I think Pope is trying to point out the issue of vanity that has been around for centuries. It has always been a problem for women, but he also admires and appreciates it. (Again, I can be totally wrong her and feel free to call me out.) Pope says that beauty is an art form, and he specifically admires Belinda's beauty.
He also, however, talks about how she uses things like her cross necklace as more of a piece of jewelry that is to look good and draw attention than symbol of her religion. That is something that you see so often today. You see baseball players wear a cross around their neck when they play, but they, for the most part, in no way shape or form show that they are a Christian in that aspect. (Not bashing baseball players, just giving an example.) Just like Belinda, they are wearing their crosses as a fashion statement, and not always to exemplify who they are. We as humans often do this in our everyday lives, our outward appearance and expressions do not always necessarily express our inward views and feelings. This is not always a bad thing, as Pope pointed out so deeply throughout this poem our inward being is vastly more important than the person everyone sees from the outside looking in.
Sorry if my view point was not entirely accurate..... but this is what I got out of the reading so there y'all go!
