Pascal- Madison Flowers

Pascal blew my mind when he was talking about fully knowing and never knowing; extremes and our inability to perceive or experience them. While it is true that we will never fully understand most of the things on this earth, we can know one thing and that is the fact that God fully knows everything and we can trust in that.
I enjoyed reading the part on page 439 when he was talking about man being a reed and how we are so feeble but even if we were to be crushed by the universe we would still be more noble because we would know that we were dying. It was an interesting thought when he said that all of our dignity consists in thought. And I am wondering how you guys feel about this? Do you agree?

I agree that it is truly mind blowing how intriguing Pascals theories on how a person can truly know and to wat extent they can understand the world around them. I also agree on how interesting Pascals idea that all of dignity exists in human thought.

It's so easy to idolize and to get caught up in achieving knowledge, but the more we come to know, the more we will crave and thirst to know. This can often lead to tremendous pride and confusion regarding our ultimate purpose. Our purpose is not to know, rather to declare faith in Jesus and to spend our lives honoring Him by serving His people. I love how you focused on the importance of clarifying that God knows everything, meaning we do not have to exhaust ourselves by allowing chasing knowledge to be our primary goal. It is important to find rest and trust in that we do not have to know everything because God already does.

I also thought this was very interesting. It is really cool to me, the idea of not being able to know everything. I know that sounds very strange, but it is still intriguing to me. I won't know everything about the earth, or everything surrounding it. I also won't know everything about an infinite God. If my finite brain could understand everything about an infinite God, then I honestly don't think I would want to serve him.

He presents an idea that even when man loses he wins, and that’s kind of enigmatic and sucky. Even if we were crushed by the universe we’re more noble because we know what happened and the universe does not, but you know we’re still dead. I liked it as well, in some ways I can agree but can really find a way to disagree, Thanks Madison!
