Stuff and things

"I would find it hard to believe that someone who is careless about his own salvation is concerned for mine."

ALRIGHT LOCKE! *hand clap emoji* do me like that.

As Locke discussed his desires and expectations for churches who truly follow Christ, this small statement just hit me like a brick. I was at one point very lost in the mindset of spending so much time being a Christian that I never took the time to share the gospel myself. To care about your salvation truly, must also mean to have the desire to share it with others. This was difficult for me as growing up in church, I knew it was right and “most beneficial” to pursue Christ, but I did not truly have any sort of relationship. I was a Christian out of practicality and not out of a desire to know and serve my Savior. Why would I care about someone else knowing Christ if I was only serving Him because it’s “beneficial”. At that point, it’s all about me and what I can gain.
I also like what Locke said about how a Christian should work through love and not through force. To me, force entails attempting to work in order to maintain the right standing with one’s religion, as well as out of obligation and not for a true desire or understanding of God’s goodness. The out of love would apply to genuinely knowing the goodness of God and understanding enough about Him to have the desire to bring all other people into knowing Him as well and for both their good and for the good of the kingdom.
To me, this was one of the more difficult works we’ve read, but I still enjoyed getting to know many of the perspectives and opinions Locke holds toward the Christian people and to keep them accountable.

I completly agree where you said "we should have the desire of knowing God to try bringing all other people in the world to knowing him as well," as Christians it is our call to go out into the darkness of this world and show others the peace, love, and light of Jesus Christ. Most Christians fail at this because they think that as Christians we should surround ourselves with other Christians (Which is good to do) but by doing that most of us never take the time to spread the gospel to the people who don't know about our savior instead we would rather just talk about him with one another.
