First, this is not the easiest type of language for your girl to understand so I am definitely very ready for an interpretation session of this selection during class.
The title was the most interesting part to begin with, "The Rape of the Lock". Before I even began reading I assumed something was taken against the characters will because the word rape is being used and it had something to do with her hair because of lock being in the sentence as well. When that portion of her hair was removed it deeply bothered her, especially since it was take against her will. No one had been given permission to do that and her hair was obviously a very important feature of that! I know all girls find their hair as something very important to them and to them it is something that helps define them.
We think so many thing are important and when they become unimportant in our lives, momentarily our world falls apart. Her hair will grow back, it doesn't make what he did right or okay at all, but she is able to move on and move forward. I love that picture of hope in this story. Share with whoever needed that reminder.
I commented on Gabby's post and Abbie's post!
