This read was very interesting to me. I feel like many of my classmates and kept thinking of Mary Wollstonecraft. The Pope and Wollstonecraft had many similar opinions and would definitely agree on many things when it came to women and men. I love to think of the change that has occurred over the period of time. Not only in the way we look, but in the way we dress. It’s so interesting to look at what people think is ‘trendy’ now and what people thought was ‘acceptable’ back then. I still have a difficult time believing people actually wore that much makeup back then, if only they could see my makeup routine that literally takes me five minutes every day. I also think about the respect that women receive now compared to what they used to receive in the workplace and home. The change is so amazing to look back and reflect on. Today, I wish/hope that everyone understands external beauty has no comparison to what internal beauty is. I am so thankful that we have a loving God who does not judge us on how we looked, as men did in Wollstonecraft's and the Pope’s day, but with a compassionate heart that focuses on our internal beauty.
