In Dr. Masburn’s “zingers” he assigned last week, the topic seems to center around knowledge of religion. In several of the comments, it mentions that knowledge can be used as both a tool and a destructive component. In concerns of religion, it tells us that knowing too little causes us to be ignorant and not capable of defending our beliefs. However, too much knowledge is destructive since we being to question everything and lose faith. Where does this healthy balance lie? Only relying on the divine knowledge given to us through scripture could have one ignorant to today’s time. This is not saying the Bible is outdated, but rather, in defense of a subject, needs to be displayed relatable to the person the argument is presented to. If not, it has no relevance to them. However, studying the knowledge divinely given, and deep, philosophical meaning could cause one to try to explain the miraculous which needs no explanation. This leads a tricky balance between the two. The decision comes when one chooses whether to put faith over reason or vice versa.
