The Only Difference Between Hitler and King Leopold Is Press Coverage // Ezra Kennedy

I really liked the section where Trevor touched on the holocaust and how almost every country or civilisation has an event similar to it. I like that He pointed out that everyone thinks their history is the more important or intense.

He highlighted that when you look at the Holocaust, you look at the numbers. He says that the vast numbers of the victims of the holocaust count as highly as they do, because Hitler made sure to count each one and make it known how many stones he stepped over to achieve his goal. But then, Trevor acknowledges the other great tragedies around the world  (the Congo, Angola,  Belgium, etc.). He says something that struck me, he said that no one was counting when they were slaughtering people, they didn’t keep track because number wasn’t important. There’s something vague about slaughtering a huge group of people not caring how many of them you get, as long as you get them. I’m not saying that the holocaust is undermined here, but I do like the comparison of the different catastrophes and how the difference between each of them was how we’ll known they were or how closely people paid attention.

I commented on Zane’s and Ostin’s posts.

I completely agree with you. Noah definitely made an important comparison between the Holocaust and other catastrophic events. I sometimes just wonder and feel as if some horrific events in history have just been swept under the rug because no one cared to pay enough attention to it in order to make others notice. I feel as if this same idea is also why history is such an important thing to recognize, along with the fact that today will one day be history.
