This book is already heading somewhere a lot more pleasant than The House of Spirits even though they both involve cultural and political segregation. This story already has a more pleasant atmosphere to it, and I can feel myself getting attached to the story of Trevor Noah. However, while his ability to become, as he said, a "chameleon" in any situation was very beneficial, it must have caused some severe internal confusion. To claim to be a part of every tribe and to speak the languages to had to have made him struggle about his true identity. It very much fits the section about how his name does not have any South African meaning or translations and how this exemplified that he could be anything he wanted to be. I don't know where this story is headed, but with Trevor's appearance, intellectual and lingual abilities, and his experience with every way of life in the region I feel as if he could be a very strong uniting voice. At least that is my hopes, along with that I would like a book to have a pleasant end apart from the rest of the books we have read this semester.
I would like to know your opinions towards this book and maybe your ideas about where it is heading.
P.S. I commented on Hailey's and Rachael's posts.
